I returned my book several days ago. Why isn’t it showing as checked in?

We are delaying check in of all materials to ensure the health and safety of the library staff and users. If your book is still showing on your account 7 days after you have returned it, please let us know by emailing info@manheimlibrary.org.  Please include your name and library card number.

If I have multiple books to pick up, will I be scheduled for multiple appointments?

If you have multiple items requested on the same day, the library staff will put all of your materials available into a bag(s) tagged with your last name and first initial.  You will be notified by email of your scheduled pick up time.  The email will include all instructions needed for picking up your requests.

Can I request items from other libraries in Lancaster County and beyond (Interlibrary Loan)?

Users may request items from any Library System of Lancaster County library to be picked up at Manheim Community Library’s offsite Library to Go location (26 East High Street/Wolf Street entrance). Requests are made using your library card through the LSLC Holds system (the same system used to request books prior to the pandemic) at search.lancasterlibraries.org. Only 5 holds may be placed at any one time.  Holds are removed once the item is received and checked out to you by the library selected for pick up. Interlibrary Loan is not available at this time.  Please continue to check our website and follow us on Facebook to receive updates and expansions to Library-to-Go!

I am not available during the service hours. What should I do?

We are working to expand our service hours in the near future. Please continue to check our website or social media for updates to our service hours. As of August 3, 2020, we will be offering Library to Go service hours on Thursday evenings from 3:15 to 7:30 PM.

How long will it take my books to be ready for pickup?

The wait time depends on whether the item is available or if all copies are checked out. If the item is available, staff will process the request and notify you by email when it is available for you to pick up.  In addition, you will be informed of any material requests that are unavailable.

Can I place an order and pick up the materials on the same day?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to do.  Current processing time is 48-72 hours.

Can I donate books?

At this time, we are unable to accept donated materials. We are focused on safely accepting returns of Manheim Community Library materials.  Continue to monitor the website and follow us on Facebook for updates.

What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?

Library-to-Go offers contactless pickup in order to provide maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff. Staff will use gloves and face masks, and sanitize surfaces frequently in accordance with guidelines from public health authorities. Additionally, when books are returned, we will enforce at least a 96-hour delay before handling library materials or making them available for checkout.

Can I request items via telephone?

Although we encourage users to place requests through the holds system or our Library Pick service online on the website, the library will be taking requests over the phone when that is not possible.

My books are overdue, how should I handle payment?

If your items are overdue, no worries.  We actually renewed all materials that were due during the closure and have waived all charges associated.  The library is continuing to waive fines accrued for materials, through July 16th. More information will be forthcoming

Do I need a library card?

Yes, a Manheim Community Library card account is needed to use the Library-to-Go service. If you do not have a library account, please contact the Manheim Community Library during the business hours.

What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?

If you are unable to leave your vehicle to pick up your materials due to mobility issues, we can provide accommodation by placing items in the trunk of your vehicle. Please check the box to indicate that “pick up is assistance needed” and a staff member will call you to make arrangements for a smooth pick-up when you arrive.

When and where can I return library materials?

For the health and safety of the library staff and users, the Manheim Community Library book drop remains unavailable.  Users may return books during the Library to Go service hours at our off-site location by placing returns in a bag and placing them in the containers identified for returns.  Materials will be placed in a 96-hour delay before staff will handle materials or make them available for check out.

When will in person programs resume?

Library programs are offered online at the present time.  Please continue to monitor the web page and Facebook page for updates as we look to expand our services.
