Library to Go Service Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning November 2, the Library will be open with limited capacity. LIBRARY TO GO pick ups are also available in the lobby of the Library/Borough building at 15 East High Street, Manheim.
Mondays: 9 AM to 5 PM
Tuesdays: 9 AM to 5 PM
Wednesdays: 9 AM to 5 PM (9 AM to NOON reserved for our at-risk patrons by appointment only)
Thursdays: 9 AM to 8PM
Fridays: 9 AM to 5 PM
Saturdays: 9 AM to 1 PM

To enter the building, please press the button marked “Library” to the right of the entrance. A Library staff member will let you in.

I returned my item several days ago. Why isn’t it showing as checked in?

We are delaying check in of all materials to ensure the health and safety of the library staff and users. Materials will be quarantined upon return for 120 hours/5 days. If your item is still showing on your account 7 days after you have returned it, please let us know by calling us at 717-665-6700 or emailing info@manheimlibrary.org.  Please include your name and library card number.

Since March 2020, Manheim Community Library has waived overdue fees during the COVID-19 epidemic. Beginning with items checked out on Tuesday, January 12, overdue fines will be charged for any item returned late. Items will not be charged for fees accrued while the item is in quarantine.

How do I request items from Manheim Community Library, other libraries in Lancaster County and beyond (Interlibrary Loan)?

Users may request items from any Library System of Lancaster County library to be picked up at Manheim Community Library in the lobby of the building. Requests are made using your library card through the LSLC Holds system (the same system used to request books prior to the pandemic) at search.lancasterlibraries.org. Only 5 holds may be placed at any one time.  Holds are removed once the item is received and checked out to you by the library selected for pick up. Interlibrary Loan is not available at this time.

Once you receive email confirming your request is at the Library, please call us at 717-665-6700 to make arrangements for pick up during our regular hours posted above.

How long will it take my books to be ready for pickup?

Once you contact us to schedule pick up, requests may be available the same day. If you wish same day pick up, please call us at 717-665-6700 to ensure your request is received. You may also choose to come into the Library during regular hours to pick up your hold.

Can I donate books?

The Friends of Manheim Community Library will be hosting book donation events. Details are available HERE. At this time, the Library is not accepting book donations.

What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?

Library-to-Go offers contactless pickup in order to provide maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff. Staff will use guidelines from public health authorities to maintain best practices for sanitation. Additionally, when books are returned, we will enforce at least a 120-hour delay before handling library materials or making them available for checkout.

Do I need a library card?

Yes, a Manheim Community Library card account is needed to borrow materials. If you do not have a library account, you may request a card when you visit the library. Be sure to bring photo identification. For details or if you have any questions, please call the Library at 717-665-6700.

When and where can I return library materials?

Beginning Monday, November 2nd, the book drop will be open for convenient book returns. Please do not bring your books to be returned into the Library. All books should be returned to the outside book drop. Thank you!

When will in person programs resume?

Library programs are offered online at the present time.  Please continue to monitor the web page and Facebook page for updates as we look to expand our services.
