Library to Go

Manheim Community Library is expanding service!

Since June, our popular Library to Go service has offered patrons the opportunity to request materials and use a contactless pick-up service by appointment. Now that we are ready to expand our service to include browsing appointments (details below!), Library to Go will undergo some changes. See the highlights below.

Library-to-Go Services

Library to Go services will offered at the former ambulance building located 26 East High Street.  Users can park in the municipal parking lot and access services through the Wolf Street entrance marked Library to Go!  Services offered are:

You Pick:
We are removing the You Pick option from our Library to Go form. To request specific titles held at Manheim Community Library (or any other Library System of Lancaster County Library), please use the HOLDS system that was the customary way to request holds prior to the pandemic: go to search.lancasterlibraries.org, search for the book, and using your library card place a hold and request it to be delivered to Manheim Community Library. Once it arrives, you will get an email to contact the Library to schedule pick up. (We are unable to offer same day pick up at this time.) On the day of pickup, we will check out the item/s and have them available for you to pick up during regular Library to Go hours at 26 East High Street.

Library Pick:
Not sure what you want? Let our staff pick for you! Just answer a few questions in the form below. Once your request is processed, we will schedule a DAY for you to pick up your request, based on the preferences you stated on the form. On the day of pickup, we will check out the item/s and have them available for you to pick up during regular Library to Go hours at 26 East High Street. Requests take at least 24 hours and up to 72 hours to be received, processed, and scheduled. We are unable to honor requests for same day pick-up.

Scheduled Pick Ups:
Requests not picked up on the scheduled day will remain at Library to Go until picked up.  Books are checked out on the day of scheduled pick up and will be due in two weeks from that date, regardless of when actually picked up.

Browsing Appointments:
Browsing of SELECTED material will be available by 30 minute appointments at Manheim Community Library’s Library to Go location: 26 East High St, Manheim/Wolf St entrance. At this time, only 1 person will be admitted for the browsing appointment. We anticipate adding family appointments in the near future as we continue to expand services. You must wear a mask appropriately, practice social distancing, and comply with safety guidelines in accordance with the CDC, state government, and Library. You WILL NOT be permitted entry into the building until your scheduled time and MUST leave promptly when the time is up to permit proper sanitation of the space before the next appointment. Library to Go browsing appointments are available on Thursdays between 3:00 and 7:30 PM (first appointment at 3:15, last appointment at 7 PM). Patrons at “high risk” (elderly, immunocompromised, or having other health risks) are invited to make a browsing appointment on Wednesdays between 9:00 and noon (first appointment at 9:15 AM, last appointment at 11:30 AM). See our
events calendar
for available dates and registration links.

Book Returns: The book drop will remain closed at this time. We encourage customers to return books they checked out before the library closed to the public during their scheduled appointment. Patrons that are not picking up materials may return items during Library to Go service hours at our offsite location in the former ambulance building located at 26 East High Street/Wolf Street entrance. Please bag your books before returning. Bags are provided if you do not have one. Thank you!
